Most of you have heard of the famous street in Chicagoland, “Devon Avenue”, as it is the mecca for Indian/Pakistani stores. Some of Sameer’s favorite restaurants are also located on the Devon Ave. strip — one of them being Sabri Nihari!
Sabri Nihari is an Indian/Pakistani restaurant that has become a popular destination among Chicago natives. Sameer couldn’t wait to fulfill his hunger with some of his favorite menu items. Surrounded by the warm ambiance of this classy restaurant, Sameer chatted with the owner, Mr. Butt, about the roots leading to the success of Sabri Nihari.

This past weekend, the Sameer’s Eats team set sail to the Bahamas on the Salaam Cruise 2012. The staff at Salaam Cruise arranged for zabihah-halal meat to be delivered to Blue Lagoon Island for Chef Morrison to marinate and cook up some traditional Bahamian food!

While visiting the sunshine state, I dropped by one of my go-to spots in Orlando, FL. Chaat House is a family owned and operated halal restaurant which has been serving the local community for many years. Aside from my favorite items, the owner was eager to show me some of the other popular specialties!
A collaboration between The Muslim Youth Community Center (MYCC), the New Brunswick Islamic Center (NBIC) and Sameer’s Eats brought over 4000 people to the 1st Annual Halal Food Festival!
Over 20 vendors participated, featuring Indian/Pakistani, Chinese fusion, Middle Eastern, and Mexican cuisines. A few local bakers showed off their dessert creations with a french pastries and trendy cupcakes. A high quality coffee roaster served attendees on site as well. Sameer and 3 judges spanned the event to find the “Best Wings”, “Best Sandwich” “Best Entree” and “Best Dessert” .
